Festive Places to Enjoy Tanglewood in Portland
We’ll let you in a little secret: We love the holidays. We also love the fall/winter because it's the best time to enjoy warm bevs in our favorite spots in and around Portland that we don’t visit enough.
So, where do we take friends and family to enjoy Tanglewood Chai while diving into the holiday spirit? Get your thermos ready—here are our favorite places to enjoy a warm Chai in PDX.
Pioneer Square
Generally, we’re Eastside folks, but we’d be lying if we didn’t make it an annual tradition to check out the Christmas tree lighting or the public Menorah at Pioneer Square. And when we’re ready to head back home, we usually loop back to the waterfront to check out the Christmas Ships with a warm Ginger Spiced Chai in hand.
Winter Wonderland at PIR
Suppose you’d rather skip and stay in a warm car instead. In that case, head over to the Portland International Raceway for the Winter Wonderland holiday light show—the biggest light show West of the Mississippi. The display is incredible and only made better when accompanied with Hot Buttered Yam.
Either/OR Cafe
We might be biased, but the Either/Or Cafe is a fantastic place to enjoy Tanglewood Chai because it has a great atmosphere, excellent food, and, well...it's where we started. If you’re looking for a fun brunch, the Either/Or and Tanglewood staff are DJing on the 18th and 19th of this month. While you’re there, be sure to pick up a bottle of Hot Buttered Yam to make your day spicier!
The Aerial Tram
There are few panoramic views of the city better than the Portland Aerial Tram. If you’re looking for a kid-friendly event on December 9th from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm, their team is offering family photos, children’s crafts, and more. Just don’t forget to take photos with your favorite Chai bev and share them with us on Instagram.
Mt. Hood
We know it’s a trek, but we promise it’s worth it. Mt. Hood has been our go-to spot to bring holiday visitors because of its unique beauty and for being a true winter wonderland. Enjoy Tanglewood Chai in the Timberline Lodge after skiing or take during a snowshoeing excursion. What’s more, cosmic tubing at Ski Bowl is a must for non-skiers.
Holiday Chai Punch
After you’ve visited all the delicious places to sip Tanglewood Chai, be sure to pick up ingredients for this extremely tasty punch to spice up your next holiday party.
- 1 32 ounce bottle Ginger Spiced Chai
- 16 ounces oat milk or dairy milk
- 16 ounces rum or bourbon (we like Cruzan Blackstrap or Four Roses Bourbon)
Heat milk in a large pot. While it is heating, slowly add Chai and rum or bourbon. Zest fresh nutmeg or orange rind on top of each cup. Makes 8-12 servings.
