Here at Tanglewood Beverage Company we love nothing more than spooky season! Fortunately Portland always delivers so there are more than enough events and things to do for the whole month of October! Because we simply can’t do them all in one day (we’ve tried, and though efficient it’s just not as fun) we put together a list of the must-do’s in (and around) Portland on Halloween week. So fill up your travel mugs with Lavender Fog, Hot Buttered Yam or Ginger Spiced Chai because we are going on an adventure!
Hike at Silver Falls
Start Halloween week off right with a hike at Silver Falls State Park just east of Salem. Take in the “Crown Jewel” of the Oregon State Park system and enjoy all the gorgeous views, 177-foot waterfall, and the changing colors of the leaves.
Wednesday 10/26, Times vary
Haunted Shanghai Tunnel Tour
Learn about a part of Portland’s dark history as you tour the legendary Shanghai Tunnels, where sightings of resident ghost, Nina, isn’t uncommon. The hour-long tour ends with a beer tasting at Old Town Brewing.
Visit a Pumpkin Patch on Sauvie Island
Sauvie Island is home to dozens of farms, and every year thousands flock to the Manhattan-size isle during Halloween time. Choose from some of the most extraordinary, unique, and vibrant pumpkins to take home and carve. Here are some of our favorites:

Spirit of Halloweentown
Just a 45-minute drive from Portland, in historic Old Town in St. Helens, is the Spirit of Halloweentown festival! Every year the city transforms into Halloweentown, where it served as a filming location for the eponymous late-90s Disney movie. This family-friendly event includes Halloween Car Rally, Little Trick or Treaters Parade, a Vendors Village, costume contests, haunted houses, and more.
Sunday, 10/30, 11am-4pm
Waiting till the ultimate last minute to snag a costume?! You’re in luck because the final Portland Flea market of 2022 is happening on the Sunday before Halloween! Shop from over 70 local makers (which includes several vintage purveyors!), enjoy vendor booth trick or treating, and a themed photo booth!
After an entire week of outings, nothing sounds better than enjoying an evening at home, giving out candy to trick or treaters, and having a Halloween movie marathon. (We suggest starting with, It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and you can check out our Halloween movie guide for more!)
